Super heroes
As mentioned earlier, another teacher and I are the advisors for the yearbook next year. We have already started talking about our superhero theme and have students excited about it and cover designs are in the process! The last meeting was encouraging. We had a great turn out and students seemed really excited about this idea. Now, we have received a letter from DC Comics telling us all the details about actually using the images of super heroes like batman and hulk and superman. I realized we would need to give them credit but didn’t realize there would be a price. If we do use these images, it would need to be approved by DC Comics. With yearbook dead lines, I am not sure this can be done. I feel like we have gone so far with this idea and now we are back at the drawing board for ideas. Here I thought we were so far ahead and in reality we have now taken a huge step back. Ugh! Any good theme ideas out there?

I’d shy away from using any copyrighted material. It’s just not worth the hassle.
Wouldn’t it make sense to have the students create their OWN Superhero? Just my $.02 here, but it would seem the logical thing to do.
English Journal’s latest issue has a couple of articles about yearbook publications this quarter - maybe there is help there? (haven’t read them).
BTW, my college yearbook theme was “A Now For Something Completely Different” (monty python). No graphics, but none the less a good theme that can really be played into.
like you sujested before, I, as your student wouldn’t mind helping out with the year book. I’m makeing a few consept designs for you. if you dont like them i can always draw some more or change them to how every you want. ^.^
Ugh super heroes. We need to come up with something better than 007 and super heroes. I don’t know anymore. It seems like the kids are enjoying this idea. I say leave the cartoons out unless you start TODAY for the permission. You need to get on top of things. I know you can handle this. Don’t let it over come you =]
